Ostensibly ostentatious musings.

MODOK could work in a Captain America sequel or Avengers sequel, if done as an HR Giger-esque creation.  I could see it working quite well and being a truly disturbing and unsettling presence as a villain…. but that’s only if the voice is done well though.

Carey Mulligan is amazing in “Drive,” and just a fantastically lovely actress all the way around whether she’s in “Doctor Who” or in “Wall Street 2” or anything. Honestly she’s delightful and can give nuance to the smallest of parts for the smallest of background characters. Terrific actress, needs an Oscar for “Drive” IMO. Plus: delightful fashion sense that works for her.

I love this. If I could actually have a painting of this on a canvas and have it hanging from my wall, you be your ass I would do it in a heartbeat.

People need to know the definitions of words…

Judge, definition: evaluate: form a critical opinion of; “I cannot judge some works of modern art”; “We shouldn’t pass judgment on other people.”

Disapprove, definiton: Consider inappropriate; To not approve; To have or express an unfavorable opinion.

  • People do things, people have different opinions and things they enjoy that others may not but something that’s been bothering me lately is that some people cannot seem to tell that there is a difference between disapproving of something and judging somebody for something. There are people who do things I disagree with and don’t like but I’m hardly judging them for it. They have decisions to make and they make them. Not my place to judge. Originally I wasn’t going to post anything about this, until my good friend (whom I love very much) told me about her own situation with similar feelings I couldn’t help but feel a sense of kinship (but I’ve always felt a sense of kinship towards Robyn so that’s nothing new).

  • I cannot stress enough people, there is a difference between judging somebody for something and disapproving of something if they’re doing something you dislike.  You can disapprove without judging.  That’s a wrap….

Been a while, but here… we… go… in a Joker-In-The-Dark-Knight-sense of the phrasing…

SLIGHTLY UPDATED:

Okay been a while since I’ve said anything on here, to any of my followers(yes all 30 or so of you! Woot!) but I guess I’ll start with a few thoughts regarding Batman movies, post “The Dark Knight Rises.”

It’s now common knowledge in the internet/comic book world that after Nolan hangs up the metaphorical cape and cowl when he wraps on TDKR, somebody new will be coming in to take over the directorial reigns, meaning new cast, new writer(s), etc etc etc.

Listen now, I love BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT and I have all the faith in the world (with no doubts) that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be the trilogy capper the current series needs. So don’t take anything I say about how the next series should be more comic book-y to set itself apart from Nolan’s trilogy, as a slam on Nolan’s genius, real-world, plausible, take on the Dark Knight.

Ahem.  So the following will be my thoughts on what I want from the quot unquote next trilogy from WB/DC.

I want an established Batman. No more origin, everybody knows how Bruce becomes Batman. It is (arguably) the most famous origin in a comic book story next to Superman and Spider-Man. We don’t need to see it again. I want Batman already Batman, feared by criminals, hated by the mob, and working on the side with Gordon and the GCPD (Renee Montoya, Detective Bullock, Sarah Essen etc).

Also: Arkham Asylum to be filled with supervillains. Not every villain needs an origin, which Nolan has shown us (scarecrow, Ras Al Ghul, Joker hardly had origins).  From the Riddler to the Cavalier, to Clayface or Mr Freeeze or even Firefly, bring out the more fantasy based villains (without going into Schumacher-ian/60s-ness camp or Burton-ian, gothic, Hot Topic selling ridiculous level).

Don’t be afraid to give us another Joker, and introduce Harley as well. Keep the mob controlling the city but go more outlandish. Black Mask, Maxie Zeus, the Penguin.

You can introduce the second Batgirl (Cassandra Cain —  a favorite), and have Nightwing as an established hero in Bludhaven. Tim Drake, a late teens Robin, badass with his bo-staff, by Batman’s side.  Maybe Oracle… (that’s a big maybe though).

The best way to go with the franchise next is to go in a different direction. Keep it dark, keep it accurate but don’t step on Nolan’s toes of gold.  Fin.

This is a thing of awesomeness. In the words of Belloq at the end of RAIDERS… “It’s beautiful!”

I think if you run for president you should have an IQ test beforehand.

“No, I don’t know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under god.” — George H.W. Bush.  Look I believe in God, I consider myself a Christian for the most part and I have faith but I think the constitution states something pretty important about the American people having the freedom of religion too.  That’s such an awful thing for a president (well, ex-president) to say.  What a swell guy.
